Day 1 of the Garden of Life Wild Rose Herbal D-Tox

I have made the decision to change my life, yet again, but this time with a good kick start. I know I'm addicted to sugar and sweets, but I wanted a good chance at actually succeeding in dropping a great deal of weight. I know I let myself go after I got married and started having kids (eating whatever I wanted), but a few years ago I saw a movie that changed my life. Since then, I have tried my hardest to eat all organic, natural, and local. At times it has been difficult, but now I want to actually go full force into a healthier lifestyle. My best friend, who looks fabulous and just had a baby, is helping to keep me motivated by starting the Turbo Fire program with me at the same time. We have planned on either doing it together through Skype (her having her copy playing on her end, and me with mine on my end) just to keep each other motivated while we live 500 miles away from one another. If we cannot Skype, we will fill each other in as to when we did it. On another note, while I am doing this Turbo Fire program I will also be doing a total herbal D-Tox by Garden of Life. I was perusing the local herbal/natural market near me for something to cleanse my body of the impurities and to give me the umph I need to actually stay motivated for 20 days in order to stick with something to lose weight! You ask 20 days? Yes, it takes 20 days to form a habit, and all I need to do is go 20 days doing the same thing every day in order to do this and make it a part of my daily lifestyle. It's easy to get hooked on logging into your email or facebook, to see the daily drama or to figure out if you got any wicked awesome coupons in the in box, but its the anticipation which keeps you going back. I'm hoping that with this detox (which is 12 days long) and this work out program I can hopefully get in shape, drop a few dozen pounds, and get on a track for a healthier lifestyle. Day 1: I started this morning eating oranges (which wasn't the best idea since its on the not preferred list)with my daily dosage of the detox. I also put together some food items in the crock pot and rice cooker for lunch and dinner. To include organic brown rice and chicken broth (I used saffron for seasonings), cut organic potatoes and onions with organic olive oil, and I have some organic chicken breast defrosting for dinner. Other seasonings I've used include garlic powder (ran out of garlic and am in dire need to hit the whole foods), parsley, paprika, a pinch of salt (not really preferred but ok in moderation), and some basil. I'm hopefully going to enjoy my carb-ridden foods since they are highly preferred in the program. It is divided into 20% categories and 80% categories which is what your supposed to base your diet on, which I don't know if it will help or hurt the whole turbo fire effort, but we shall see! more to come as the day progresses! End of Day 1 in review: So the day went great, after I left the post I started my Turbo Fire, Fire 30 and Stretch 10 class with my best friend and it felt great! For lunch I had a bowl of brown rice, potatoes, onions, and a small amount of butter (less than 1 tbl spoon) (they were done when I went to check on them so LUNCH was great!). I left after that to pick up some groceries since I was kind of out of everything, some of the things I got were Lundberg wild/brown rice cakes, raw almond butter (like peanut butter but nothing but almonds), frozen organic pureed winter squash, apples, peaches, cucumbers, peppers, eggs, palm nectar (like sugar but made from coconut/probably not recommended and will use sparingly)and some more chicken. I ended up having to go to work that afternoon so while there I snacked on rice cakes with almond butter which are awesome and really filling, and for dinner I had an egg and more potatoes. I was thoroughly exhausted today, because it said to not work out on the first few days since the cleanse is actually really draining. I felt it necessary to start working out since I was eating things I am not used to eating on a regular basis (butter, potatoes).
